Simple things....

Coup De Moi.... And its like a light turned in me. From the book "Just Let me lie down" by "Kristin Van Ogtrop".....
As I read that passage from this book, i realized its true impact.. Just turn the world off and the next thirty minutes are dedicated to you and only you.
The folding of laundry can wait, the unanswered text message, emails, phone, thrash, menu for dinner every possible thing that can occupy the next thirty minutes can simply WAIT.. the next thirty minutes are yours, whatever you need.... a long shower, a work out, a quick nap, just curling in and reading a book... anything. Oh My God.. such a simple term this Coup De Moi.
I had to try it, I know, I have switched off once in a while just to recoup... but never willingly. I had to try what Kristin was talking about... and I did. We had guests over for a week. After loads of late nights and early mornings, I needed a break. On Sunday morning, as the family and our friend woke up. I decided to snooze just a bit more. I asked SD to take care of everything- the breakfast, the morning fruit and the likes. He was astounded, but understood my plight. Those forty five minutes as the rest of the people figured the morning, I slept, without a care in the world. I woke up, with a slight guilt- what if our guest was not fed proper. But that went away the minute, I stepped out. Plates were set, coffee was done and you know... everyone got involved as I took a step back! That was my Coup De Moi!!! Brilliant.
The book itself is an easy and a light read. Sometimes I could not relate as the author spoke about older kids and boys- both of which I have zero experience in. I am a mother of a toddler girl! But the guilt of working, of motherhood and of balance. All struck a cord and it felt good... there is light at the end of the tunnel! It will work out, and we all will learn a couple things about ourselves, our better half and our kids!
